Introduction

The Aum Shinrikyo cult was founded in 1984 by the charismatic "messiah" known as Asahara. Aum Shinrikyo gained a following in eastern Russia and Japan. Many of the Japanese that joined were motivated by a disinterest in the busy and money obsessed Japanese society.

Over the course of the 11 years leading up to Aum's sarin attacks on the Japanese subway, Aum amassed a huge fortune and the support of hundreds of well educated Japanese.

Aum Shinrikyo's ultimate goal was to prepare for an Armageddon like scenario preceded by WW3. Aum sought to gain control over Japan and all governments of the world in order to better prepare for or prevent WW3.
